We are excited to be opening up registration for the 3rd Season of the PDSA Flag Football league! Below are some key details:
Registration
Registration will open at 8:00am on Wednesday, July 12th
To register you will need to go to https://www.phillydragons.com/; then login under your account to register your child.
Please feel free to forward this information to others who may not be in our league database today but would be interested in playing. They will need to create an account for themselves and add their player(s).
In the registration you will be asked some specific questions about your players athletic abilities. We ask you to respond to these as honestly as possible. Over or under rating your player will skew the competitive balance of the league. There is no draft for this league - the rosters are automatically generated using this information as well as previous coach ratings to assure balance of the teams.
Cancelation of registration is permitted until August 1, 2023 with a $20 cancelation fee. Any cancelations after August 1, 2023 will not be refunded.
Volunteer Coaches Needed
During registration you can sign up to be a coach. Please follow the volunteer questions. Please note that last year we had challenges getting coaches and we were very close to needing to reduce team numbers in 2 divisions. We will only be able to field the number of teams based on the number of coaches that we get. This is a very low commitment level for coaching (Saturday morning only), and previous coaching experience is not necessary.
League Division and Ages
The league will consist of 22 Teams with 10 players per team. There are 3 divisions – see below for age parameters:
- Shula Division (6 teams) – birthdates between 9/1/2015 and 8/31/2017
- Madden Division (8 teams) – birthdates between 9/1/2013 and 8/31/2015
- Lombardi Division (8 teams) – birthdates between 9/1/2011 and 8/31/2013
Please note that we DO NOT allow for playing up/playing down for Flag Football. This is a very popular program that sells out very quickly, and every season we have waiting lists. Allowing players to play up or down takes away a spot from an age appropriate player. We realize that some players birthdates fall close to the cutoffs; however, we are not in a position to make exceptions as a matter of equity. We will not be able to respond to any play up/play down requests.
League Overview
- Location: South Philly Supersite (2926-2968 S 10th St) – please note – most games will be played on the turf field, however, like last season there will be some played on the grass outside of the stadium
- Dates: Saturdays Only from September 9th to November 18th
- Practice: Week 1 (September 9th) is the only practice. Coaches may ask teams to arrive early to games to warmup/practice on the track area.
- Games; Regular season games run September 16 through November 4th; playoffs will be November 11th; championships will be November 18th
- Times: Based on feedback, age group times will vary this year; All games will be played between 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (the last possible game will start at 12:00 PM).
